ALBANY, NY – The Albany Devils return home after a six game road swing to face off against the Springfield Thunderbirds Friday at 7 pm at Times Union Center. The Devils are coming off back to back wins against Binghamton, 3-2, Friday and Bridgeport, 4-1, Saturday. Their record stands at 34-25-1-1. The Thunderbirds are coming off a 2-0 win against Rochester Sunday. They currently hold a 25-26-8-2 record.

St. Patrick’s Day History: In Devils franchise history, they have played just two games on St. Patrick’s Day previously, both of which were road games. The Devils played in Hershey on Mar. 17, 2012 where they lost in a shootout, 3-2. They also played in Bridgeport on Mar. 17, 2013 and lost 2-0 in regulation.
Goalie Watch: Ken Appleby returns to Albany’s line up after spending a few days with the New Jersey Devils. His last game with Albany was on Mar. 3 at Providence when he walked away with a 3-2 win. His record stands at 16-11-0. Mackenzie Blackwood is coming off back to back wins this past weekend against Binghamton, 3-2, and Bridgeport, 4-1. His record stands at 13-10-3.
Transaction Watch: Not only has Appleby returned to Albany’s line up, but Kevin Rooney is back with the team after being called up on Mar 9 and traveling with New Jersey to Washington, Boston, Colorado and Arizona, playing in four games. In addition, John Quenneville got recalled by New Jersey on Wednesday, Mar 15. He was last in New Jersey from Nov. 30, 2016 – Dec. 6, 2016.
